Climate Media Coverage is Expanding - Where Does Your Brand Fit In?
Climate change, arguably the most important global issue of our time, is finally starting to get the dedicated media attention it deserves.
In Media Matter’s annual report, the non-profit media analysis organization found that time spent discussing climate change on the major broadcast TV networks tripled from the previous year (however, that still represented roughly 1% of overall programming).
In the past year, we’ve seen the number of climate-beat journalists soar. Major outlets have bolstered climate reporting resources, including the NPR climate desk, an expanded climate team at The Washington Post, the AP’s climate journalism initiative, and more. Thoughtful newsletters and podcasts have sprung up around the world (way too many to list, but Tofu is a great place to find out more). Though it wasn’t all good news… RIP Protocol Climate, we miss you.
