LinkedIn recently released their annual Global Green Skills Report, and based on their findings the climate sector is in serious need of a skills infusion. But while the lack of skilled workers is not ideal in terms of fighting climate change, it does present a major opportunity for those looking to work in climate tech. The report outlines a clear list of skills that are missing. Aspiring climate tech marketers simply have to choose a green skill that aligns with their preferred path and make developing that skill their priority.
While that sounds straightforward, there are a few key roadblocks. First and foremost, the report finds that access to green skill training programs is limited, with only 41% of Gen Z workers able to engage in these programs. Given the generation’s deep connection to the climate movement, this is a serious issue. Fortunately, the report also describes some solutions.
